I visited M.I.T.'s Architecture Machine Group in 1979 and saw the future in a collaborative group of artists, scientists and students working on early experiments and demonstrations of interactive, ‘hyper' and ‘multi' media.   I saw these inventions as critical to the multi-leveled mode of expression I wanted to develop in my work. I left New York without looking back and joined the Lab from 1980-1982. For over two years I collaborated closely with people from other disciplines in an atmosphere of complete improvisation: using machines and tools for reasons far a field from their original applications.
